Ugh, I can't believe that I'm still at work, I'd much rather be at the hospital this morning! What? wishing to be at the hospital. Anyways, I'm sure you all know but my wife is due "any day" and has been for a week and a half. This build up of anticipation is getting to me, since the dr has led us to be it could be any minute for such a long time. I do appreciate all the kind thoughts, etc. I'll keep you all posted if there is any news...

Babies like to come in their own time. And remember, due dates are NOT an exact science. My oldest brother was almost a month past his "due date", whereas I was a mere 10 days overdue. As long as the baby's vitals are still good and Momma is feeling good, then just keep on doing your thing! Some things to try are exercise, I've heard going for walks can sometimes help bring on labor. Spicy food like Indian, Thai, or Mexican have also been known to help bring on labor (no joke!) Anyway... keep us posted!! *cheer* *fingers crossed*

I've heard (and only heard, mind you - this is a "they say" type of thing) that a foot massage can also help. Actually, it's reflexology, but there is a pressure point that can supposedly help induce naturally. Even if it didn't work, though, should she enjoy such things it would be a nice treat.

Thanks for the support everyone!
I've been giving her nightly foot massages and back massages, partly because I too have heard those wives' tales, but really because I felt she needed the comfort.
Well, her due date isn't even until 12/22, but the problem was just that the doctor gave us the expectation that the baby should be here already judging by how dilated she is etc.
She'll come when she's ready, but I still whisper to my wife's belly each night to let her know that we have lots of really warm blankets waiting. I think she's too comfy in there...

My wife was "technically" in labor for a week with our first kiddo, but ya just gotta wait. But there will be a time when you look at her, probably about 2am, and you are going to realize you better get in the car!

Well the Dr. called my wife yesterday afternoon, and put her on the schedule at the hospital for Saturday.
So of course, my wife has been timing contractions all through the night! She still isn't 100% if they are true labor contractions, but we'll either be going in at some point today or tomorrow AM!

Note: This is coming from Mr. Hippy Daddy Tony. I'm not a doctor or anything like that. And a little warning: some "adult" topics here, but hey... you're having a baby! What's more adult than that?! I'm soooo happy for you ! You'll never be the same again! You're about to lose all your free-time for the foreseeable future, but it's being replaced with something that's unbelievably so much better. The best thing you can do for mommy after the birth is to hold and hug and love her as much as possible. And take the baby away from her as much as she'll allow. Buy a nice big comfy chair for your computer, and learn how to play LOTRO one handed, and don't be afraid to die! I'll front a gold or 2 in repair bills for you. And if you ever need someone to /follow on for a while while you go afk, just yell As far as inducing labor naturally... The best way is relatively simple. go for walks. It lets gravity help. It gets everything jiggling and wiggling and helps baby get into the right position and gets the heart pumping and great excercise to help mommy get ready to help baby out. Black licorice... mmmm... not the twisters type of candy, but real black licorice.. I remember eating a bunch of this from a box with a panda on it from a health food store... TASTY!!!!! There's some nice teas that may help... blue/black cohosh and red raspberry leaf tea. Use sparingly.. don't drink a gallon of the stuff every hour. Accupressure... www.givingbirthnaturally.com/acupressure-to-induce-labor.html Sex. - While it may not "start the contractions", what semen does do is helps "ripen" the cervix (aka, makes it soft and makes it easier to open up). Nipple stimulation - It helps release oxytocin (i wanted to write oxycotin, but that's a little different) which is the hormone that does start contractions. Orgasms - Also releases oxytocin. See above. Note: if the idea of having intercourse with baby so "close", there's other methods that can help mommy. IM me for some more "graphic" warnings... Nothing bad, I promise you... Just a little more graphic than what I'm willing to write in THIS forum.

I think you have to upload the picture to a photo-sharing site first, such as www.photobucket.com or www.imageshack.comThen you can create a post with the URL of the picture. Someone confirm this for me pretty please?
