Would anybody (rhetorical) be interested in dedicating one of their alts (or main?) to a strict role-playing story line. There are different levels of roleplaying out there obviously, and I think there may be folks here that would not mind seeing a dedicated/organized roleplay event to balance the grind/raid side of things. Discuss.

I'm really interested in this. A few know I write extensively for pen and paper RPGs and wanted to work this into LOTRO. However I wasn't sure there'd be enough dedicated interest. Lets see how this progresses.

I'm really rusty when it comes to RPing storylines, but I'd like to join you. Hmm, now to decide whether to be the frosty Elswen, the addlepated Chumper, or cheery Pepper...

I'd be up for it if we stay off voice chat while it's going on. I cant stay in character when there's voice chat going on around me.

I'm in! Now I'll just have to decide which character to use...

I agree with Freesia. Voice chat totally destroys immersion. And egads, I have too many characters. Who do I pick? Gah!

Most of you know I don't spend any significant amount of time on Vent. Unless tactics call for it. I'd prefer - generally - as much immersion as possible and I don't particularly like distance voice chat of any kind. For an RP event I'd say absolutely no voice chat and turn off any extraneous chat channels - using ONLY "/say" and emote when interacting with one another. Or at least, that is what I'll be doing.
I don't have a lot of time to facilitate this, Bubub but if you can get more details or a firm plan I'm willing to help as I can.
I would without a doubt choose Elhaz. I've discovered I don't really like playing the LM outside of an RP context. Shame as I thought that would be *my* class.

I'm definately in and will create a second (gasp! third!) account solely for this. Just give me a few days headsup so I can go and do all of the shenanigans that go with creating a new account. Do we care what class/race or should I just pick the one that goes best with the persona I want to have for this?

Yeah I'll probably be making a new character unless one of mine fits in pretty well, so whenever we can get a basic outline of what your setup is gonna be, that'd be great - I'd like to get through the newbie area and all that junk.

well... I'll take the first plunge... name/race/small details to be worked out... but we'll call him/her Bob for now... she'll be a guardian with a lower than average IQ. Well below average IQ (even for a guardian)

Please think about all things. I will try to participate at the end of the week. RL work is going to consume this week unfortunately, unless I get a few minutes late some time to think.

I had, for whatever reason, assumed that I would use Daerhin, my elven champion in this. Upon more careful thought, I realized that I don't want to roleplay an elf. I think I want, not so surprisingly, to roleplay a burglar. So beware, you may have Delancy onboard. (Yes, I already had a second human burglar created. )

It's tough for me to resist a chance at roleplaying. Keep Amberlie the minstrel, hobbit of Buckland, in mind as an option.

Absolutly, sounds like a lark. Time has been a factor lately, for all folks, I think, so no pressure.
Heck, if theres enough folks, maybe we can organize a impromtu rp night in general, heh...the game itself provides all the quest ideas we might need, and lvl wont much matter if we there to help one another and just there for fun. Glad to see folks were open to it and thans for brining it up Bub.

But if'n she is ya know ole Porter is always willin' to be her faithful an' knightly escort. Af'r see'n FrogMorton ya know I ain' so sure Miss Zhinga is upta Porter's high standards. Glad to see folks were open to it and thans for brining it up Bub. This is part of what I plan to bring to the fore-front in the coming weeks. This game is loaded with RP mechanisms. Everything from costuming to housing where we can stage events, to a richly detailed history that leaves very little to be done in terms of background work. Part of why people burn out on these games is because they only see or are interested in the *provided* structure and content. Role-playing is about using the imagination to infuse *more* personal content into the game's super-structure. We aren't at the stage (yet) with these things that we can introduce new objects or visual elements. But plenty of people here have enough imagination that handing off a ruby and calling it "Grendelori's Lost Glass Eyball" isn't out of the question... I'll try to get some ideas generated and post them on these new RP forums within the next few weeks...

Couldn't agree more, Hraf. The chance for all manner of stories is present in a game with such high immersion. The static npcs, and random ruins, forts, ect leave much to the imagination, even if they quests themselves are so well down, heh, they need no explantion.
Part of the allure of Wow was the open-endedness of the ideas, from the defias to the scarlet crusade to the instances of all types, where, if you really wanted, you could come up with all manner of reason to adventure. My cousin and I did it all the time...though, people's ideas of rp often consisted of sitting in a bar, talking about the stuff...never quite figured that out...I don't wanna be a digital lush, I wanna be a lush lush...chilling out in the inn certainly has it's place, but lord...that's not the end all be all, the should be more the beginning or the very end, eh?
Maybe I'll post some of the lil stories from wow...heh, more I think about it, its not the game I miss, it's the character I got outta it...heh.
Were forming a small bit of backstory were acting out for our newest characters, he's just starting the game as of last week, and I'm playing a captain along side of him. Be done with school soon and have a bit more time, I reckon, lemme know if you want any help coming up with stuff. Give me something to do at work besides think of inventive ways to piss off my co-workers.

Feel free to post character stories in an appropriate section; even old character stories. This science of fiction is appropriate!
