The idea has been proposed (and put into action) that the important drops we get from Uru and CD runs for class quests and such, if not needed by a kin member, be put up for auction, with the funds going towards buying our kin house. That way, we don't just ask for donations, but we also earn our house as a group.
Daemiel has right around 700 silver, some of which is needed for postage. For right now, I'm counting 500s of that towards the kin house. Yunkor auctioned a bunch of stuff from Uru and sent 1g 965s; Zhongo sold some class quest items and added another 100s to start off the pot. As of 10/4/07, we have 2g 565s total, which is a pretty nice start, I think. (Delaney also has a warg-keeper's token obtained in Uru that should sell for around 1g, if current prices hold.)
I'd like to shoot for 20g or so, but would like feedback. 15g would be for the actual house purchase; the rest would be for amenities and furnishings. What do y'all think?

Hmm..Floggin goes to his tickle trunk, and looks inside. Pondering his funds, he thinks a nice Hobbit Kinship house in the shire would be nice, and as his chest is full, he should send some to the builders. Those workmen need funds, and he wants that apple tree out front. Counting out his coins, he think he can send 1G to the funds clerk lady. Now where did I put my coat, as it's raing outside. No..No..You can't come with me Mr. Wiggles. You know how that bad old Dwarf, Mr. Onyxblade wants to cook you into bacon. Hmm..now where did I put that walking stick....

Provided no one needs a major class drop in a run I don't have an issue with selling the stuff to make the cash. Also i think we should then differentiate between an active avatar that needs the item, and an alt. All of us have alts. All of us have alts that "need" things. But with big drops like this I think the best bet is to go on what mains need the item vs. the potential of a lvl 10 character eventually requiring it. Just my not so humble opinions. I have a bit extra at the moment. Then again I haven't priced housing. I plan to contribute at least 500 silver to the guild hall fund off the bat. Do I send it to the banker?

Please do not send gold for now. We should easily be able to raise the gold necessary auctioning drops. 15 gold is really nothing, some of us could buy it outright. Sure we could pool money and buy it but we want to avoid that if possible.
If it comes down to the day we want to buy the house and we don't have enough we can discuss it, but for now as far as I know Zhongo has repeatedly stated his desire to NOT have any donations at all and it's a position I think is wise, seeing similar situations in real life as well as well as games lead to drama.
So just to reiterate what has been sent on Vent I'd ask people to not send anything, and if anyone already has that Daemiel send it back.

I agree on differentiating between a character's immediate need and an alt's eventual need. No one has yet discussed it detail that I know of, though. I was figuring that if no one needed it immediately (or within a level) off it goes, especially considering the number of times we'll be in the drop areas. As far as donations ... Daemiel will certainly not refuse to hold cash. We've got a month to raise the money, though, so it's just up to everyone as to how we want to proceed. Edit: And as I was posting, so was Yunkor, who was a bit more direct on donations ... =P

I don't have any issue donating but also see the point of how it could cause stress later on. So I just keep all me gold to meself!

I was figuring that if no one needed it immediately (or within a level) off it goes, especially considering the number of times we'll be in the drop areas. I think it is important as I've seen/heard a bit of discussion about this recently particularly with people rolling on crafting items. It is a tricky territory as no one wants to force anyone to 'declare' a main. I think that is just starting the whole thing of a guild dictating someone's play style, etc... Me no like. I don't have a specific answer but at the same time think we should begin to think about allotment to guildees or alts who can immediately use something vs. my level 20 lore-master who can *eventually* use a level 45 drop. The level or two range sounds fine to me. Perhaps arbitrarily - as conjecture here - say 3 levels. Same with hard to find crafting stuff. Though we've had little shortage of that floating around the guild barracks.

::glances at floggin:: Hey buddy! How ya doing? ::glances around:: Where's Mr Higgles at today? I need to measure him to see if I need a bigger oven...er...not oven... a bigger pile of hides for his new,... uh... pig house, yeah that's it.
How about you and I (and anyone else up for it) head up to Angmar and hunt us some turtles? Say half of any claws we scrounge up go straight to the AH for our uh.... home away from home and the odder half head to our vaults for craftin?
Or even head over to Evendim and hunt some deer for pristine hides. I sold a stack of pristine hides for around 850 silver the odder day, it only takes an hour of deer-slayin to get them.

I've got some random bits in my bank left I think for the 45 quests. I'll see what I can sell them for on the AH.

All precious metals and beryls that I pick up in my travels are being sent straight to Delaney these days, for she makes such pretty items out of them! also, I have several items that have been sent to me, like Long-Bite (uber halberd), and a few other things that I've been accumulating since the first time I ran through Fornost... 100% of what I currently have equipped is better than these items that have been given to me (except for Long-Bite. ) I would be more than happy to try to auction these items off to add to the Kin-hall fund OR! I'll start linking the items into Kin chat periodically to see if anyone wants them. Once they've been offered up to Kin, if I still have them after that then I'm definitely going to auction them off. I don't know that I'll get a lot of money for them, but it'll help us in the long run.

Ahhh....This little hobbit would like to help out, but does not see any donatable items in the near future other than.....cash. And of course, little hobbit humor, but that is questionable as far as being valuable. But I would like to help, so think of some ideas for us adventurers that have no desire to level up faster than a snail can run.

wellllll....actually master Bubub, I do consider you to be a master of the Auction Hall, and I'm too old to be traipsing around searching this and that to determine what a good price would be to sell my loot.
So... if I happen to find something that would be valuable, could you take care of the selling of it?
((Like real life, I hate haggling, bargaining, etc. I always price my loot to sell quickly. If I see something with a bid on it, I use that bid to determine my buyout price. I have over 15 Gold on my main character and probably another 2 to 3 spread out on my alts, so I'm usually more interested in just getting something out of my bags than actually making money off of it))

Aye, this little hobbit will do whatever is needed, including being the Perveyor of Goods.
<<I will take care of any merchandise that folks send my way. I have made probably 10 gold, and that is without any grinding or real time in. I enjoy the AH honestly. Of course, its kinda what I do RL so what do ya know. So whether its for the Kinship or individuals, just let me know. All I need is to know where the proceeds go. >>
