I'd like to finally see the third one. Anyone interested in that tonight? Say, around 9EST.

I'm sure by the end of the day, I'll be more than ready to (virtually) kill things. See you all then.

As long as the children don't have me otherwise occupied, I'd love to lend a hand or two.

Sorry, never made it in. Kids start school tomorrow and was getting them ready, plus my son had baseball practice. AND I was exhausted.
Did you guys go?

Yup, we went! We skipped straight to the third instance, which was HORRIBLE. We're definitely going to research strategies on that one, seeing as how it looks like nobody on Landroval has beat it yet. So we went back and did the 2nd instance instead. After a rocky start, we restarted it and aced it with something close to 22 or 23 minutes to spare.
I'm sorry you weren't able to make it into the game last night, but like you said... you were tired, and with the kids getting ready to go back to school I'm sure things were a bit hectic. There's always next time!

That third instance is somewhere beyond brutal. Usually, we can go into a new instance/area and even if it's hard enough to wipe us, we have some idea of what went wrong and what we need to do. In fact, we usually have a very good idea of how to win round two.
For the Battle of Rhunendin? I have absolutely no clue ...
At any rate, while I expect to be in game some tonight, and would be up for pretty much any fun group outing, I'm not sure when it'll be. I'll just have to see what is going on when I get in.

I think DPS was a part of our problem in that instance. We'll need to maybe be more careful about group makeup, rather than our usual "we've got a free spot who wants in" attitude - which as a rule I like, and we've almost always been able to make work, but maybe not for this.
For example the difference between our group with loremaster vs a champion in the second go at #2 was remarkable. Those sorceresses went down FAST. Might have made a difference, in killing those waves in #3.
I'll try and do some reading up on it tonight - I think I'm skipping choir. Didn't sleep well, due to a combination of wind residue from Gustav (it knocked down a tree, and a light pole at my place) and skittish animals (probably also wind related). So, early night, but maybe I can find some conversations on the forums about it.

So, early night, but maybe I can find some conversations on the forums about it. F Eh, just having extra DPS isn't going to do the trick unless you want to go in with all champions and hunters. Since I have only the one level 50 character, I'm really not all that fond of "you aren't the right class so you can't do this" approach, oddly enough. I'd prefer a little more inclusive creative thinking, similar to what allows us to do CD, Uru, etc. without minstrels or guardians if need be. I haven't looked too much for strategies. My first inclination is that we're going to have to split up. I did see one post on the forums from someone who claimed that his burglar solo-guarded both bulwarks while the other five went and claimed the camps. *cough* A little more coordination wouldn't be amiss either. I know I'm guilty of focusing on certain targets that I think are overlooked. There's a lot that can be tried before we start thinking about excluding people of the "wrong" class.

The sorceresses weren't as much of an issue in 'take one' of the second instance as the chumpie mobs attacking the bulwarks were. We did consciously try to pack in closer to the bulwarks during 'take two', to get a little more firepower from the NPC allies, and that may have helped out.
For additional DPS, LMs may want to use the lynx; we can see if that helps or not.
As for the third battle, we may have to rush the first set of bad guys. Or have five of the team get ahead to them, and have the sixth person talk to Tocopherol, or whatever his name is, when we get there (if it's possible). The timing in that instance is insanely quick; we barely have enough time to get to some bad guys before we have to run back and defend a bulwark.

I wasn't suggesting excluding anyone, just maybe going for more DPS. We had a burglar, a guardian, a minstrel, a LM, a captain and a hunter. That's one DPS class, 3 mix/utility classes, a tank and a healer.
Anyway, I did do some reading. You're right that the group probably needs to split, at least from the people who seem to have completed it successfully. They advocate either a 3/3 (safer, takes longer, might not finish in time) split or a 4/2 (faster, harder work for the group of 2 defending the bulwarks) split. The "defender" group should consist of a tank of some kind and a healer, and the DPS for that group needs to come from the NPCs at the bulwarks. So they have to be protected at all times, and everything dragged to them. The "attacker" group then swoops through the encampments.
I think maybe a guardian/LM defender group, because then you'd also have some crowd control, and at probably two DPS classes in the attacker group, with a healer and a burglar or second LM for crowd control. A captain would also work in there somewhere, either with the guardian -- though the healing might be tougher, they'd have two armored bodies -- or with the attacker group for healing, buffs and not insignificant damage.
Anyway. Them's my thoughts.

I am guessing this is a 50ish instance?

*nod* Yes, everything was at least level 50, but not much beyond that (no 51 or 52 Elites), I think. There is usually one Master Elite in every wave that we had to fight as well, and I'm not sure how many levels that actually tacks onto the difficulty of the mob. What level is Akor now? I bet he only needs a few more levels.
