I just don't understand these tailors. "Go to bree and talk to lady fancy shmancy, before I teach you more"... So I do and then she sends me to TrestleBridge to fix a bridge?! How is fixing a bridge going ta teach me about tailoring? Am I going to have ta start hammering leather together with wood nails? Is the leather going to get so tough I'm going to have ta use a wood saw to cut it up?
Maybe so!, I now have ta use an axe to get veggies out of my crop bushels, so I may have to start using a saw ta do my fine tailoring.
As I was heading up ta slope with the wood that fell from the trestlespan, I got a letter from an old acquaintance asking for assistance in the barrows. Even though, there's not much learning opportunity in the Barrow for me anymore and I was scheduled to go on a Giant Hunt with Sir Garroway, I thought that Sir Garroway still had a task or 2 remaining in the Barrow, so I agreed to help on the condition that someone from my Kin needed it and could join in. They agreed and Garroway agreed so we were on our way.
If ya been assigned the Barrow task, you'll know that you have to get 2 keys, return to Bree and then go back to the Barrow. Sir Garroway had already retrieve the 2 portions of the key, one of the members of the party had already done both portions and just had a few chalices to recover and the other 3 needed to do both portions.
So we enter the Barrow and before a plan could be agreed to, several members of our ragtag group were running down the hall. I tried to get order restored, but apparently fell on deaf ears for as soon as one battle was finished, they were off onto the next, before the hunter or minstrel could catch their breath.
Eventually order was restored, and we had much better success, except for the occassional blind rush into a room to start all of the evil spirits attacking in one fell rush, instead of the guardian taking her time to draw a few at a time...
As expected, as soon as the chalice collector had finished her collection, she hightailed it out of the Barrow. Suppose the fear of the place had gotten to her. We eventually made it to the battle for the first key, we rested and then
((I feel a little bad for doing this next thing, but I had my suspicions that once we got the second key, most of the members were going to vanish like the chalice collector))
When we left the first key holder, the guardian took a wrong turn and started heading for ol' evil Samburg ((the second and final task of the chain)). I saw where she was headed and was about to raise warning that she was going to wrong way, but decided to wait and see if the Barrow would let us past the door to the final enemy. Figure if we could get there to complete Sir Garroway's quest, we could then head to get the second key for the odders. I had no question about Sir Garroway's and my faithfulness to the other questors.
We were actually able to get to da final boss and even though one of our members fell in battle, Samburg didn't retreat to gloat over his victory and we were able to defeat him and Sir Garroway's task was done. ((apparently, he'll only reset if one of the quest holders fall.. not if just anyone if the fellowship falls... something to keep in mind)).
((Somewhere on our way to the boss, we got into that state where you just won't fall out of Battle Alert mode to a relaxed state. So we couldn't "rez" our fallen comrade. I told the minstrel to log out and log back in so that he could rez. He did so, but after the minstrel logged out, the fallen comrade retreated. When the minstrel logged back in, i got another message that the guardian had fallen again. Apparently, we had been in the Barrow for so long, the spiders at the beginning were beginning to respawn. and She couldn't make it back to us. So we had to go all the way back to the beginning and rescue her. Everyone logs out, logs back in and then I lead them to the second key. We kill the twins, get the second key and head back to bree. By the time we get back to Bree, everyone's exhausted and we "agree" to do the final quest tomorrow. ))
So after my adventures in the Barrow, I get back to the squallor of Bree-Town and check the Post. Inside, I'm greeted with OnyxHide and OnyxWall. The prettiest armor and Shield i've ever did see. Master Armourer Mahkhaza is a wonderful wonderful old Dwarf. Now I have ta decide what dye to use on it. I've got a set of gold and sienna dye in my mail... I'll ask the kinship for suggestions... Perhaps I'll go to Evendim and look for some more Indigo plants...
