I'm Timko Barleycorn, Hobbit of Breeland. My Dad was the 'ostler at the Prancing Pony for many years, but now he's retired to the family farm near Archet.
Growing up in the Prancing Pony, I was used to seeing folks from all over: Rangers, Elves and Dwarves were among my acquaintance. I was quite experienced at riding horses and hunting in the fields and woods around Bree town.
I was up visiting my parents in Archet when word came that the town was under attack by brigands. I rose to the defense of my ancestral homeland, and with the help of the rangers and other folk of the town we managed to drive off the brigands.
Since then I have been active in aiding the Rangers in defending against the growing menace out of Angmar. I've spent a bit of time in Rivendell and the Misty mountains, fought orcs in the Lonelands and the North Downs, and helped the troubled folk of the Ettenmoors a bit. But my main attention has been to the heart of the enemy in Angmar.
My motto is: "I sneaks up behind them Orcs, sees what they has in they pockets, then rams me dagger up they backside."
Yours in Service, Timko Barleycorn
--------- We are Cardolan Covenant, a small group of friends from several past gaming experiences. But there are only four of us who are "regulars" at high level. While we are very good, a group of four cannot take part in all the content available. Furthermore, we are all adults with RL responsibilities, so it's rare we can all get a block of time together at once.
Besides the four of us, there are at least 6 other members at various stages from just starting out to lvl 35-45. We also each have alts.
We recently decided to disband Cardolan Covenant and seek out a larger guild to join. I've been following Pillagers since it was founded and have recommended it to Cardolan Covenant. you may consider this my request for membership.

Since I am a comrade of Timko's, I'll post here as well. Duri the dwarf, at your service, and your family's! I hail from the Grey Mountains, where our dwarf outpost was long ago overrun by dragons. So I travel the lands of Eriador, fighting with my axe (I am a champion of the 50th level) as well as working on my arcane skills (I am a grandmaster scholar), until I (and any friends who are brave and/or daft enough to join me) can travel to face the dragons and reclaim the dwarf-holds.* But in Cardolan Covenant, our circle of friends has grown a bit small, and so it would make sense to broaden that circle. Timko highly recommended the Pillagers of Pipeweed, and so here I am (although it is a bit beyond me why anyone would pillage pipeweed when they could be pillaging gold, gems, jewels ... and especially mithril! Anyway, I look forward to meeting you all. So does my elf friend Ceol the Loremaster. He is only level 35, but based on his elf-ego you would think he was level 50 too Kind regards, Duri the dwarf * Needless to say, any treasure that might be found belongs solely to dwarves

Hello, My name is Ldave and I am a dwarf. It has taken alot of counceling to admit that. At least I'm not a hobbit, though some are OK like Timko who is the leader of my current guild Cardolan Covenant.
Though I am only a medium skilled champion, I have gained conciderable skill in metalworking and can craft tools of all grade. My older step sister, Babaloo, has nearly reached the highest level of training as a minstrel and is also a grand master scholar. Though she likes hobbits no better, we are open minded should they prove themselves useful.
Like Duri and Timko, we would also be interested in joining the pipeweed pilaging. We would do our best to be respectful of other kinship members and help any way we can. We have only one small request, that you allow our slightly handicapped younger step brother Magraw to join the kinship as well. He is mostly quite harmless and we would be in your debt.
We look forward to meeting you all, even the hobbits! Your new friends, Ldave, Babloo, and Magraw.

I am formerly of the Cardolan Covenant and I look foward to joinin' all of ye and my friends from the Covenant as well.
I hope to be with ye soon. You have my axe!

I notice that there's a request for OOC information which I did not include.
I'm a relatively older player and have been addicted to games of all kinds all my life. I started in MMOG's in the late 90's in UO and had the pleasure of belonging to the Royal Order of Knights -- one of the few RP guilds on the UO PVP server, Seige Perilous. I played DAoC which I loved until they put in the Trials of Atlantis raid content. Then I played SWG which was also great fun, but they kept dumbing it down with each patch.
I had a WoW beta invite and finally got in near the end of closed beta. I played it until I got a character to 60 then realized that the endgame consisted of waiting in a queue to get into PvP, or waiting for a raid group to form. I hate waiting.
I dabbled in Eve and AO and Horizons a bit, then got hooked on an odd little niche game called A Tale in the Desert, which I still play.
Duri played closed beta on LotRO and convinced me that, while it was a class/quest/level format like WoW (my least favorite model for a game) they had done a wonderful job with Middle Earth. Since I've been a Tolkien fan since before most of you were born, that did it for me.
My best played character was Edeor MacGregor, Armsman, Phoenix Knight, Legendary Grandmaster Armorer, Guildmaster of the Royal Order of Knights, Albion, Nimue. I put a link to a short bio and the story of his tragic end elsewhere on this board.
(Edit: when I say "best played" I don't mean "most uber" I mean he had the best backstory and I managed to keep him in character fairly well. I am 80 Explorer, 50 Killer, 50 socializer and 20 Achiever, if that's any clue to what I mean by "best played")
I work for a major aerospace firm in the far NW corner of the continental US (hint, hint) and my work takes me to such diverse places as Amsterdam, Tokyo, Singapore, Melbourne and Long Beach. I live on 10 acres way out in the woods near Mount Rainier and have no cable or DSL. I get to hear the lovely buzz of the modem dialing in every day...
Timko (Also Bognor 32 champ, Celebestel 18 hunter, Conary 20 guardian and Edeor 10 captain -- Conary is currently Leader of Cardolan Covenant but the others will move to PoP when convenient for the PoP officers.)

OOh I've been wanting to try ATITD, every time I tell someone "i wish a game had x or y feature" they say "ATITD has that". However I haven't tried it yet, mainly the setting doesn't interest me. I'd like an Eve that is more like ATITD, I read all the Eve drama and haven't even wanted to try it

The interface was really pretty poor, the graphics quality made it look like a PS1 game and it was just so SLOW. But... that just means it's not a game for me.

It's pure "cooperative-PvP" (if that makes sense) and there no "action" combat. The game is transportable to Linux and Mac so the graphics are toned down quite a bit -- but there's some interesting graphical nuances that other games don't bother with. It also has a big European player base, which appeals to my "global" social nature. The final thing that keeps me playing is that it runs on my company-issue laptop so I can play it on the road. Must say it's been a fine pleasure meeting all you folks. Welcome to our crazy band of Pillagers!
Don't forget to check out our many different postings and try to reply so some of the Quest / status quests so we can help you all.
Edit: The post is a Topic up top labeld "Pillager's Pad" Here you can post about housing, epics, alts, tradeskills etc. Looks like some of the begining posts need edited to get updated yet but that still gives us a place to check out where everyone is at.
We have a solid core group of folks who know Urugarth and CD inside and out. Many of us will gladly help others finish up their epic quests if we can plan together what folks need.
I for one do not want things "Spoiled" so if you would need a minstrel to come along, but don't want any spoilers revealed please mention this.
Again, Welcome to one of the greatest groups of folks Ive met, (( in any of the many MMO's Ive played ))

Hail Jeddo and Dakori! Glad to hear you are back. Just send Ceol or Duri a tell, and I will see who is around that can give you an invite.
