I propose modification of the rule for the requirements for a recruitment post prior to be recruited into the Kinship.
I propose that an intro post NOT be required for recruits to the kin, but that prior to becoming a full MEMBER, an introductory post be posted.
In the past, I've spoken to a few folks (at least 3 from recent memory) that were interested in giving the kinship a try, but once I mentioned the requirements for posting to the lotro boards, hesitated and ultimately never joined.
I can see several views of this. On one hand, we only want folks that are "serious" about being in the kin. Serious enough that a quick post to the boards shouldn't be too much of a problem. And on the other hand, some folks take their introductory post very seriously and would want to be put a LOT of work into it. Some so much that they may want to flesh out their character with interactions with the kinship for a few days/weeks prior to putting an introduction onto the forums.

I think that's fine. If they're recruited and during the ONE MONTH period they can't post, do we want them anyway? Or is it two weeks now? Either way, plenty of time to post and they can be encouraged to do so after recruited.

I'll go along with the intro before full membership, but I think it should be stringently enforced. It's not much to ask, and it can give us useful information about our new kin.

Note: Because I expect debate on this issue, I left the ability to retract your vote in the poll

Already voted, but frankly, as long as there is still some sort of "enforced" story posting in place, I'd be fine with that. A story/intro for the character shows that the player has a vested interest in their character, and has taken the time to try to develop a personality and backstory.

Maybe during the period between application and member, we should require a few posts to the forum. Maybe if we required 2 or 3 posts to the forum, it would get people in the habit of coming here and planning things.

As a new recruit (even though the voting is closed) I personally agree with the sentiments expressed here. I think it is important for people who, under normal circumstances, might not post on an online forum to at least take the time to create an introduction to their kinship.
I think some people are intimidated by having to describe their character, but it can be a lot of fun!

I think some people are intimidated by having to describe their character, but it can be a lot of fun! I admit I was a little intimidated at first by it, because I really wanted to do it right, but having been a guild leader in the past I think that getting people to the boards and posting is pretty important. For me it always clued me in on who was willing to really put effort into the guild and who was just there to be babysat. In my past experiences, the folks who wouldn't post were typically the ones that quit at a moment's notice anyway, so the effort that someone puts into a simple backstory or attempt to get to know everyone really kind of clues you in from the get-go about what kind of member they're going to be. Not always of course. I've had plenty of good players who wouldn't step foot on a forum but it's more the exception than the rule.

I'll add that I think we're very lucky to recently gain so many great people. You are all very welcome here and I think we'll be a family for quite a long time. Welcome!
