Greetings,
My name is Katarnus Kylen, a captain hailing from the town of Esgaroth on the Long Lake in Dale. King Brand has sent me to this part of the land to deliver a message to a wizard named Gandalf, but I haven't managed to find him, deliver the message or get back home. I have managed to find the Shire and fall in love with the halfling way of life. I seem to find myself embroiled in one conflict after another in this part of the world as there seems to be many people in need of help in one way or another. I've lately found myself missing companionship in my travels and have heard through chatter in the inns of your company. I'd like to humbly ask to join you and help in any way that I can.
Thank you for your time and consideration, Katarnus, Captain of Dale
((OOC: Hey folks! I've been playing Lord of the Rings for a good while now and am a daily poster in the Coffee thread where I met Delaney. I'm only playing a night or two a week right now because I also race RC cars in my spare time, but with Winter coming I'll more than likely be spending more time in-game and would like to be able to do it with a good kin. I think that Delaney could probably vouch for me and I'm also good friends with Akor and Lorenia. Thanks!))

Coherency? Who needs purple grapefruit? Monkey ate my pizza! Say, have you ever listened to any Gaugain or X2CrNiMoN17-12-2?
Hey there, Kat! Good to see you outside the CC posts. You know, I really need to get ONE of my cars out before it gets too cold. Hrm... Maybe set up a little "street course" for my TC3 in some parking lot. I'd take my Traxxas with me this weekend, but I don't think the event coordinators OR the horses would appreciate it much.

Greetings, Katarnus! I am very much looking forward to meeting you. *salute* ((I like your name, by the way. Very nice. I was a big fan of the Star Wars expanded universe (they've totally jumped the shark in some of the new novels) so I recognized it right away. Corran Horn is by far my all-time favorite SW character. ))

I wish I'd taken pictures of the plywood I brought home from work in my little Scion to build ramps for our RC's. You've never seen so much wood crammed in a little car. It was hilarious in a redneck sort of way. We ran our stuff last year all the way through the winter. We froze, but we still ran them. Thanks for the welcome!

I have to admit I wasn't very original in my younger days when I created the first Katarnus to rp on aol back in 1995........he's kind of lived on in every game since then in one form or another, but his Golden Age was during Star Wars: Galaxies. Lorenia can tell you all kinds of stories about the infamous Katarnus Kylen. Regarding the expanded universe, they kind of ran me off with the whole jedi kids thing. I liked the X-Wing novels by Michael Stackpole a whole lot, and the ones by Timothy Zahn. Most of the other stuff just kind of made me roll my eyes a bunch.

Let's see... a bunch of 8' 1x4, 1x6, 1x8, a couple 24x48 sheets of half-inch ply.. all at the same time. In my little car. And I pulled a trailer loaded with probably 1500 pounds of paving stone/brick wall/sand/etc on another occasion. I drive a Toyota Matrix (that's the Corolla chassis).

katarnus,
Welcome, I just had to jump in a the Star Wars mention! I am a huge fan of just about anything with a lightsaber! Pen and paperstar wars was always a blast when we could run Jedi campaigns! I am really hoping bioware is working on a KotOR based mmo!
But again, welcome.

I am really hoping bioware is working on a KotOR based mmo! But again, welcome. I'd like to try it out myself, but only if they still have non-jedi characters like smugglers. I love Jedi, but most people that I knew from Star Wars all wanted to be Anakin when I thought they should be Yoda or Obi-Wan. It really made me angry most of the time to see people with no sense of responsibility trying to play a Jedi. I mean, lightsabers are really really cool, but being a Jedi is more to me than swinging a glowstick. Anyway, I'm not really sure I'd do it justice either, but I can play an awesome roguish scoundrel!! If that's what Bioware is up to, I'm sure it'll be good as far as the game goes, I'm just afraid of what the players will do to it! hehe Used to do a good bit of SW pnp myself, but I usually butchered most of the rules out of it in order to keep the faster pace that I thought represented the movies. Those old 2nd edition SW rules were pretty complex at times.

I wouldn't be opposed to trying it out if Bioware does in fact come out with a KotOR mmorpg. I've also played a healthy dose of pen and paper Star Wars RPG, using the revised D20 system (never had the pleasure/displeasure of playing the West End Games edition) and I always had a good time. I deliberately stayed away from playing a Force-sensitive and/or force-using character, almost always going for the dashing Han-solo scoundrel archetype. I found they were far more interesting than trying to play a "Jedi" in an Episode IV-V time period, where Jedi aren't really supposed to exist.
On that same note, I've also played the new Star Wars: Saga Edition that came out in the last year or so... I didn't like it. But that might also stem from my unwillingness to learn yet -another- game system, as it was greatly changed from the d20 system that I learned on. What can I say? I'm just stubborn like that.

Welcome Katarnus, I look forward to adventuring together. ((Katarnus? I don't know anyone by that name.... hehe JK I met Kat back in SWG in '04 I think it was, and he became my bgff - bestest game friend forever. Kat is a great RP'er and also loves to help others whenever he can. Great guy IRL & in game, he would make a good pillager.))
