One of my friends in the Coffee House is in a small kin that would like to pick up some raiding soon. He thinks they can field about six people. We talked about the idea of doing the runs together, but as his leader is occupied IRL for most of the month, we haven't hashed out many details. Some of you know the player in question, by the way: Gombur, of the Last Alliance, also know as "Doc" from the CH. If Doc's kinmates as are pleasant and fun as he is, this might be an excellent idea. As I said, no details yet, but I would hope for fun, casual, no DKP BS, etc. Also, it is certainly not a "raid, raid, raid" idea ... maybe a couple of nights every couple of weeks. Doc's really interested in the idea - he likes grouping with us and thinks we could teach them Rift basics. Now I think we can put up six people as well. What do y'all think of the idea in general? (I'll put up details when I get them ... )

I think it sounds like a great idea. I really enjoyed raiding and I've just been waiting and hoping that we'd be able to go back in someday.

Gombur's company has been Great so far. I'd say invite them over to this forum and we'll plan something.
I'd hope they would release some new raiding material with Moria?? But, I'm up for another rifting push before the expansion?

I think it sounds like a great idea. And considering how hard it was towards the end to find enough people to go, the more people we have to pull from the better.
I've kinda been wanting to go back before Moria starts.
And Helegrod! Maybe we could find enough people to just try it out?

I have reconnected with some old friends, who happen to be in one of those elite raider kins. I more or less have an open invitation to ask for help on the Rift or anything else for that matter.

If I ever catch up to you all, I'd be interested in poking my nose in some of the big instances. But it's more to see the content than to farm the bosses. However, since everyone else will probably get through the Moria content before me, I'll defer to your wishes on raiding. I have been playing a little Warhammer on the side and spent a little time with Kings Beyond the Wall's warhammer chapter. If you all are interested finding some folks to fill out raid spots, I would be happy to make introductions for you. I would imagine there isn't going to be much focus on the raid instances in about two weeks. But it might be good to expand our network for later, or give us all grouping options as we jump back into the leveling process. [Side note: Zib's summary of Warhammer: good game, but filled with the people who post on VN Boards.]

Zib, I suppose you're right that many of us will be sidetracked with the new content of Moria once the game goes live on 11/18.... but as far the big instances go, we always try to make room for those when there's a call for them. Now, if I'm understanding this correctly, we really haven't got much of a chance of successfully raiding in Moria; it's going to be -that- hard, and without the right gear, we'll just get wiped repeatedly, which means that we'd have start raiding in the older areas, beginning with either Helegrod or Annuminas (in order to get the gear), then work up to the Rift (to get the gear), and then into the Moria raids... but as far as non-raid content instances go, we'll do whatever needs doing! More specifically... -I'll- do whatever needs doing to help get everybody else where they need to be. So worry not! Everything always works out in the end.

There's 1 moria raid with a total of 2 rooms. First room is pretty emptry and the second room is where the watcher lives. Last time I checked, the watcher hasn't been beaten even with folks in full "radiance" gear.

I've never been a raider but I'd give it a shot.

Ditto with Brunli, and it sounds like the newer traits sets might make the raiding really more interesting as people start developing their character more to their own specifications.
Yah, didnt hear much about the watcher as of yet, though I did see a recent screenie where a few folks tried to taking him out. If you look at the text in the corner of the screen it main consist of such one liners as ...
"Holy..."
"Crap."
"Wow' and
"wiiiiiiiiiiipe"
Therefore, I propose we try it as soon as possible. It'll be funny. But yah, coming up in janurary im prolly gonna have absolutly nothing to do, sooo...

I really enjoyed the occasional planned assaults on the Rift. My thoughts are we stick to the old raid rules, roll for loot, no seniority systems... We all tried to put out a good effort and tried hard, but not get so serious we're upset at each other and it's not fun. Challenges are fun I just enjoy the challenge, if we don't wipe on first try of something, it was too easy for me Anyhow, I think we should start out by finishing the Rift. Next spring when there's lots of mid 50's or higher. We finish the Balrog. Should we see a really nice spike in membership, Helegrod and Thorog would be content I'd really like to see someday (mid 50's??) With any luck, by next April, I'd love to start Kazad Dum or other Moria content. If we start this content sooner Great!

I agree. We should get that Balrog after we have gained a few levels each. Spring though? You really think it will take that long?
