I'm curious as to what that Deep Miner's Helm from the Gamestop preorder looks like.

Is there a reason I shouldn't just upgrade through Turbine??

no reason whatsoever. It's what I've done with my and my wife's account. It's cheap at only $29.
I even upgraded mine finally to a lifetime account.

The lifetime account is tempting, but I think I've paid so close to $200 since the game started. My thought was that I might as well pay monthly, since otherwise I'll be paying CC interest on the lifetime account. Where am I thinking wrong here??

It all depends on if you think you'll be playing more than 2 years from now. If so, you'll save money. If not, you'll lose money. I wish I could do the digital upgrade, but Turbine manages to be the one and only online seller I've ever encountered that has a problem with the Texas tax code. I'm currently waiting on Best Buy to put out their pre-order boxes. I could do Gamestop but I'm curious to see what goodies Best Buy might have. Plus I have some reward coupons at Best Buy that I can use to offset the cost. Among those goodies, I think I want the mouse. I wonder if you can get two? Infestations!

I guess what I was thinking is that if you paid $200 for the close to 20 months last time around. Wouldn't you still have to pay $200 to play Moria for lifetime? So the question is will they release another expansion in 20 months again?? It all depends on if you think you'll be playing more than 2 years from now. If so, you'll save money. yes.. they plan on doing future expansions. With a lifetime subscription you'll have to pay the $30/$40 for the upgrade, but will never have to pay another monthly fee.

Really?? So your cost to play Moria for the next year is only the upgrade $30 - $40 cost, no monthly, the original lifetime subscription still applies for monthly costs?? yes.. they plan on doing future expansions. That's the plan. That $200 gets you no monthly fees for as long as the game servers are online. You only have to buy the upgrades to access the additional new content.

Correct. $200 gives you never having to pay a monthly LOTRO charge EVER again. When paid expansions come out, you pay the $30 and continue on your merry way.
If my wife continues playing through Moria, I'll upgrade hers as well. Figure I have a laptop, even if I'm homeless and unemployed, I can always find a cafe somewhere and play lotro to forget my troubles for an hour or two.

I took a chance and got the lifetime sub as a Founder, so it will all be gravy in a month or two.
I always get nostalgic over prior MMOs. So, this will be the first MMO that I can come back to with impunity if I ever completely burn out and move on to another MMO. That's a beautiful thing.
