Greetings! My name is Valengar and I hail from Rohan, the land of the Horse-lords. A story you say? Well, I suppose I’m definitely the one to tell you a story being that my whole life is centered on lore of one type or another. Every story has a beginning and mine is no different I suppose. My life started with something that many felt was an omen for I was born with fiery red hair. It already had some length to it fresh from the womb and my parents and family took special notice. Like many children I was raised with love and caring, but also discipline. My parents spent much of my early years concerned as I’ve always had a fascination with fire. As a child, I burned many things in play and experimentation which eventually led to my exile as a teen.
I do not blame my village at all, were I in their place I may have done the same. So off into the wilderness I went, first seeking food and shelter and later seeking knowledge. My travels took me to Minas Tirith in Gondor for a time for they have an impressive library. It is there that I learned much about the lore of fire and many new ways to make it. I absorbed many other kinds of knowledge while there, though my primary focus was always fire. I learned to speak to certain types of animals. I learned to invoke the elements, I starved for knowledge so I read and read and read.
When I felt I’d learned all I could from the wealth of Gondor, I set my sights North. To Imladris, or Rivendell, I went to study in Elrond’s library. Many of his volumes were ones I’d already read in Minas Tirith, but so many more were unique. There was no end to the learning it seemed, but still I wanted more.
I soon realized that I’d learned much from books and tomes, but that I needed practical knowledge. My travels took me to Bree, but I was caught unaware in Archet during a brigand uprising…..Blackwolds I believe they were called and one of them took my eye with a hot poker.
I need to travel and learn more, but I’ve realized that I can’t do it on my own. It’s only through doing that the rest of my studies can take place. I also have an interest to put a stop to those that would do to others what was done to me and there’s much of that to be done here in Eriador and beyond.
So there you have my story. If you would have me and my skills I’d very much like to join with your company and put my studies to use at your disposal.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
