Just curious what everyone's plans are on/after the 18th. I know we're all excited to get to the new content (especially those of you who, unlike me, have already gone through most of the existing content ) I've been doing my best to spam-level over the past few days and will without a doubt make it to 50 before release solely for the reason that I don't want to be left behind while everyone else is out exploring the new zones. So, I'd like to officially offer my soon-to-be-equivalent skills to a fellowship. Since the 18th falls on a weekday I'll be at work until 5pm CST until the weekend, but those first few days I'd love to have a formal gathering each of those evenings to see what there is to be seen. Just counting the days... ;D

I just plan on having some fun. Getting a few levels and then going back to the places I didn't fully explore. Then getting a few more levels and hopefully get some legendary items and have some fun with those. I'll have 4 50s by then, so I'll be leveling all 4 to 60 eventually.

Death Runs!! ;D
This calls for Death runs. Join me if you want to run into the unknown, just to see whats there!
Otherwise, I'll probably start spending more time than I should on all the new quests and finding/advancing legendary items...
Thel has the summoning horn, so maybe I'll summon you and we can check out Moria!
longer term, I'm probably going to make a Runekeeper or Warden, my first and only alt most likely...

Given past MMOG experiences, I expect the 18th to be a living hell. No extra time off or anything for me. I will probably just create my Warden and RK and then work on Gildir (if he isn't 50 by then).

Thel, I would totally follow you on a death run. And hey, if you don't stop to battle, we would have the boost of hunter speed to survive places. I think you have to finish the Epic quest first to gain access to Moria though? I'm actually planning to level up my warden first. It'll be a lot easier to get through the 20s if there are a lot of people around. And yeah, the 18th will be scary. I contemplated taking the 19th off, but I want Thanksgiving week off more.

I'm thinking about poking my head in and taking a look around, but I'm a bit fearful of the server loads the first few days. Might be a good time to get some work done in Forochel.

Yeah, I wasn't planning on actually going anywhere near Moria for a while. I figure there'll be SO many people in there that I'll be able to strip mine and deforest the rest of Middle-earth while nobody's looking.

I'll be trying to get my RuneKeeper up to strength in order to travel with the Terrible Trio (tm).
Though of course, late at night, I'll play Onyxblade when there's just the dregs of society...er, the West Coast folks, on and there will be less of a chance of fighting with 10 folks on the 4 birds that you have to kill.
(This stems back to the night in beta, we were ALL doing the epic questline book 1... ugh! You thought it was tough finding moose in forochel on day 1?!)

I agree, and I'm sure that the servers and new areas will be an absolute mess, which is why I like Thel's idea about death runs and blind exploring. I've been grinding quests so much recently to get my level up that I could probably afford some haphazard travelling. So about having to finish the new epic before going into Moria...can anyone else confirm that or know anymore about it? If so I hope that it's not necessary to be caught up on all the other epics before doing so, cause I'd have quite a bit of work cut out for me in the next week if that's the case. If it isnt and the epic is open as part of the new expansion, I think we should at least organize something to finish it so we can get to Moria and the other side of the mountains.

Yes. You will have to finish Volume 2 Book 1 in order to enter Moria.
It's entirely solable from what I can tell (I can go complete it tonight if you want absolute confirmation). To not give away too much of the story line, it's basically you helping the expedition open up the front door and needing a weapon of great power in order to accomplish.
I'm at the point where I have to get my legendary weapon up to level 10 which involves a bit of "grinding". Not a lot of grinding mind you. It took 1 kill to get to level 2 and maybe 1 or 2 more to get to level 3. This is a fine time to complete some of the quests around the area, as you'll be getting Item XP while getting regular XP and completing quests.
And there's no prereq for book 2-1.1 So you can rush right to it if you want.

I want to get the first legendary weapon to play with, and look around Eregion a bit (however much there is to see.) I won't be rushing to Moria. I went to the first part of Forochel when it was new and I don't plan to repeat that fiasco. This may not preclude a death run or two just for the hell of it, but my serious forays into Moria are going to be a few weeks out.
Also, I plan to roll a warden and see if I like it. Altitis will never hit me hard, but I do want to try this class out.

Altitis will never hit me hard, but I do want to try this class out. Pretty much same here. I've played plenty of other mmo's during expansion time and the first week or two can be rough. I usually prefer to wait two weeks and just dabble here and there, then jump into the new content. Otherwise you spend all your time competing for kills or putting up with heavy load. The new alts sound real good, but there'll probably be a massive rush there too, so expect for it to be difficult to get quest mobs in the starter areas as well. At least for the first week. On the bright side, new characters move on fairly quickly. It's going to be great in the world at large though with so many new alts. It'll be really easy to get groups to get those barrows quests and such done. I expect it'll really open places like Forochel and Angmar for a week or so as well. Most of the folks will be in Moria or starter areas, so the mid to high level areas will be ripe for the picking as far as ore, hides and wood goes.

Well I had hoped to take the 19th off, in hopes that daytime server traffic would be lower (plus hubby is off on Wed & Thur) however work is pretty much preventing that. I am working from home on Tuesday, so I should be able to jump on for a few mins and at least create my little RK.
I don't really even know what my plans are, but if both moria & lower levels are going to be crazy, Lorenia has a TON more book quests to catch up on (I'd presume Bradley and others will too) so we work on that, although will there be any specific benefit to finishing that book other than for story content?

Welllll... the level cap has been raised to 60 with the advent of Moria, so finishing your Epic books means you'll be earning XP again!
