(I'm not entirely accurate with lord of the rings lore, but someone said to post a backstory on here, hope I do a good job! I'm in no way a "great" writer, and I wasn't sure what forum to put it in, but this seemed to fit!)
To Mayor Graeme Tenderlarch,
From Fibur Son of Migan, Ered Luin
"Greetings! I hope this message arrives to you in one piece, Chorwyn, the carrier of this message, is infamous for losing things! (And often soon forgets them afterwords) Firstly, let me get to the point of my message: I would like you to kindly enter Chorwyn into your services. Aye, she doesn't look like too much, but let me tell ya a bit about her history in Ered Luin:"
"Chorwyn first came to us in Ered Luin at the age of 13. At first, we kindly did not let her pass and showed her what direction she might go to find her way to Bree or back to her home of Dale. It's not that we dwarves are not hospitable, (A thousand times more helpful than those elves would have been!) but Chorwyn wouldn't belong in such a place. However, she claimed that she would rather learn useful things like exploration and to carry arms than have to go back to her life in Dale. Admiring her thinking, but being the helpful dwarves we were, we once again kindly threatened to remove her by harsh force to protect her from such thoughts."
"Chorwyn would not hear of it. She plead so passionately and convincingly, claiming that she was homeless and even wanting to fight for the honor, that I finally agreed to let her stay at my home. Chorwyn's spirit reminded me a lot of my lost wife, and I had gotten lonely and rather unsociable as of late."
"So six, long and dreadful years she stayed at my home. I'm not saying that Chorwyn has bad character, it's just that she tended to make a lot of trouble for me! I got several demotions because she distracted me from my duties with her pestering of wanting to learn more swordsmanship, several shuns from other dwarves because of having a human in my home, and several dirty looks for, when Chorwyn aged to fifteen, she organized a raid of one of our vaults because a few of the 'poor' 'needed' food." (If they really needed the food, they can work for it! She was quite lucky that her involvement could never be proved!)
"Of course, Chorwyn has many great qualities as well! She is an excellent leader who always knows what to do if a situation arises, (She helped organize a raid into a dwarven vault, which aren't easy to raid!) an excellent swordsman, (Having been trained by a dwarf of course!), mighty strength, (Even if she does not look it) and has great knowledge." (Although her young personality says otherwise)
"She has... out-grown... Ered Luin, and should really be around her own kind. Her talent is wasted here, and surely you can find a position for someone of great quality like Chorwyn!"
My Thanks,
Fibur
P.S. "If you cannot find such a position, no matter what size, please send Chorwyn to another settlement! It's not that we dwarves would not accept her again, but she simply deserves to have familiar surroundings!"
Of course, Chorwyn had a chance encounter with brigands on her road, and the message was lost and soon forgotten. In fact, she was soon discovered by a great kin of warriors named "Pillagers of Pipeweed" and was from that day forward dedicated to adventure and helping those in need.
