It is said you must be 10% smarter than the equipment you operate.... Apparently, I am not yet 10% smarter than a bow tie.

Oh no!
And just what were you needing a bow tie for? How about a clip-on instead of the real thing?

Because I in two weeks I will be an officer in my masonic lodge. Officers wear tuxedos to meetings. Since I am buying my own tux, I want to wear a real bow tie. But I have never owned a real bow tie and the instructions that Joseph Banks gave with the bow tie just did not give enough description for me.

I must add that I'm a tie invalid. I always made my father tie my tie when I lived at home. Now that I'm on my own, when I'm at the inlaws and have to wear a tie. It always takes googling the how to tie a tie websites and better than half an hour to do a poor job of getting my tie on...
Living in a town like Vail, Colorado. Mountain Casual is the typical convention and that means almost never wearing a tie...

Oh cool! Congrats on the promotion to officer, Zib. And I like Thel's idea of googling a site to see if they can give good instructions on how to tie a REAL bowtie. Good luck!

Congrats Zib! I'm bow tie illiterate too, no real need to know being a girl and all. There are a bunch of YouTube video how tos on bow ties. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJv4Qh7zR3E

I think I'm closing in on it. I might only be about 5% dumber than the bow tie. I'll need to watch the videos a bit more.

I'm pretty sure my car is actually 10% smarter than I am. It tells me when I've done something stupid on a nice little screen (with accompanying error-like sounds); like trying to drive when I have the emergency brake still on. Or when it is time to get an oil change and I'm stubbornly trying to get another 100 miles out of it.... Don't even get me started on my smart phone... it is one step away from being called 'Skynet'. Congrats on the promotion, even if it does require the dreaded bowtie!
