It was 6:17 AM in Maltmead, Horourary Shirriff Zoot was finishing his first cup of morning coffee watching the sun peek into the valley at the poarch of the Pillager’s kinhall. Many of the farmers were also up and making their way to the farmlands. As usual, they split into two main groups. One headed north to Hobbiton, the other west to the Delving Fields. East in Crickhollow, Zibric imagined his cousin Zibgar turning over in bed again.
Zibric toasted the rising sun with his last sip from the mug. He then put the now empty mug into his wheelbarrow and picked up a carpenter’s belt. Zibric also grabbed the cork board and painted wooden placard. These items secured he walked into the entry room of the kinhall. He looked around at the walls, noting the various trophies, fine paintings and even a few well crafted pieces of furniture. He saw the opening directly across from the door, where every pillager was bound to look as she or he entered the hall.
Zibric put down his placard and then fished in his belt for a couple nails. He placed several nails into his mouth, grasping them like a fine meerschaum pipe. Then he placed the cork board up on the wall. After tacking the corners of the board, Zib stood back to look at the board. He used his plumb to adjust the vertical and his square to check the corners of the board. Then he secured the board in place.
Next came the sign. The Honourary Shirriff picked up the sign and read it. Office of Fellowship. Zibric measured the top edge of the cork board and attached the sign to the wall above the middle of the board. Again he stepped back and surveyed his handiwork. Zibric would never be confused for a master woodworker, but it would do. So Zibric took his tools back outside and placed them in the wheelbarrow.
Finally, Zibric picked up a piece of parchment that had been placed in the wheelbarrow. He took the parchment into the kinhall and placed in right in the middle of the board. The note was in a neat, but not flourishing hand:
To: Pillagers of Pipeweed
From: Honourary Shirriff Zoot
I was well pleased with how we handled those brigands out by Odo’s farm. It would appear that HQ was pleased as well. I have been asked by Chief Watcher Grimbriar of Bree to lead a patrol in the vicinity of the Foresaken Inn, the Lone Lands.
So I request any and all assistance on this Saturday morning, December the 13th. We are to investigate rumors of goblins and spiders in the ruins of Minas Eriol. Please assemble at the Prancing Pony after second breakfast and we shall move from there.
I hope that I can once again count on your aid.
Your most humble and obedient servant,
Zibric Zoot, Honourary Shirrif of Buckland
OOC – Saturday, December 13, 9 AM Eastern lasting until whenever we get bored.
My aim is to make the Honourary Shirriff’s Patrol a weekly event starting in January. We will use one or two group quests in a given area as the ‘task’ as we roleplay our way through the adventure. Bring any character you are interested in roleplaying. The theme is a bounder’s patrol. However, we only get together periodically to run these official patrols. This will enable you to bring in any character you want and to accomplish other in-character things in between our patrols.
These are generally going to cover areas that my warden is leveling through, because I am selfish like that. But also it will enable us to continue the bounder’s patrol roleplay theme. If you have a particular group quest, epic quest or instance you want us to hit, you can let me know ahead of time. Either send a note in game to Zibric or PM me here on the boards (note: address forum PM to Broma, I’ll get it that way).
