For those of you who are cat lovers..here's an update on Garfield.
He is recovering fast from his cancer surgery & has one more week of confinement. I did not mention previously that he also has kidney disease which we manage 2x/day with sub.q. fluids. Because of this disease he is also anemic. Last week his red blood cell count went dangerously low & he had to have a transfusion. We hope this will stimulate his system to make more on it's own as the benefits of the transfusion only last 3-4 weeks & he can only have so many of them.
The cancer had metastasized in one of his lymph nodes so he is facing chemo in a few weeks. They tell us cats do not lose their hair, nor do they get sick from it. But we are worried because it's possible it may affect his red blood cell count & his kidneys, both of which are already a problem. We can only live one day at a time and hope for the very best for him.
He had his 13th birthday last Sunday and is a happy cat & feeling very good right now and starting to object at being kept in a separate room from the rest of us. The gals at the vet's office gave him a bag full of toys & treats & a birthday card. I think they love him as much as we do because he is so sweet.
So, if things continue to go well, we should be back in Middle Earth in about a week. We could sure use some R&R & hope you all haven't forgotten this Runekeeper and hope to see you all again soon.
